Day #31 - It all comes to an end

One month of full on blogging.  How did you go.  I missed 2 days - not a bad effort.
Thankyou to all those that came to visit.  The old regulars that comment on every post and those that were new to me.

I had huge plans on visiting every blog that participated this year - Think that I managed to get down to about 60 on the list (plus the regulars that I often pop by and say hi too!)

Today, the kids and I headed out to a market - oh my - why has it taken me until almost November to catch on that fruit and vegetables can be bought at a market literally a few kilometers up the road.  I walked away with a weeks worth of fruit and vegetables for $11.60!  That included 3 (yes people 3) punnets of strawberries - lets just say that we will be going back next weekend.

Home for a rest and then off to see DH (he lucked out and had to work today)  a few rounds around the oval and then a bbq together under the trees.

For those that were committed and did the whole entire 31 days - Well done.

and on the subject of commitment.  DH was awarded this just the other day.
15 years of serving his country - we are all very proud of him.

Thanks must also go to tinniegirl Thanks so much for hosting and I look forward to the fun that 2011 will bring.

Day #30 - Red Olearia

Another Christmas gift completed (I even have the book to go with this one)

I love this pattern.  It is the Olearia by the ever talented tiKKi. It really is one of my go to patterns at the moment.  Amelia is still yet to have one grace her shoulders so I may have to do something about that.

I asked my SIL which version she prefered and the reponse was "the plain one"  but could not help myself and had to add a little detail at the base.

I love it.  And looking forward to seeing in on Miss Vivi when it fits her.

Pattern: Olearia by Georgie
Neddles: 3.25 and 4mm Circulars
Yarn: Bendigo Woollen Mills, 8ply Luxury in Sunrise
Time Frame: October 16th - 28th 2010

And while I am on the subject of showing cute knits on Nieces - this arived in my inbox this week. Miss Vivi in her Aunty knitted beanie.
How cute is she!

Day 29 - Jump Jump

Tip:  If you want a good finished photo, DON'T ask the five year old to stand on the tramp.

New PJ's made from an opshopped single sheet that was too narrow for modern day beds.
Sleeve detail.  A doily cut in half and stitched onto a cheap singlet.
What's better than enough fabric to make a pair of long pants for both the girl and her Mumma.

Popping this in for my entry in the Creative Collective Spring Craft Challenge.  Inspired by all of the Jacaranda's  in flower.

Day 28 - My Creative Space

today I am feeling a little like this

I need sleep.  One sick little boy + one sick big boy + no sleep for this Mumma = Grumpy Mumma

I am off to play in the sun and jump on the tramp in the attempt to wear out sick little man (and give him some much needed sunlight) and then we can both have a sleep (fingers crossed)

After that, I am hoping to get a few things finished.

Day #27 Valentino

On Saturday I caught the train into the city and meet up with Marie.

Together we walked around, pointing, ohh and ahhing at the wonder that is Valentino.  What an amazingly talented man and designer. He really is the man behind the ruffles and bows.

On the way out I shouted myself a pattern making book.  Looking forward to sitting down and reading it soon.
If you are thinking of going, go, and you best hurry - you only have until the 14th of November.

Spotty...

Thanks for the messages and emails from my last little post.

We are ok.  Just a little spotty.

The little man, and not so little Man* have managed to get Hand, Foot and Mouth.

I went for a shower and came out to this...

at least they think it is funny (between the tears and pain)

* The not so little Man in the house manages to get every childhood illness that the kids come home with. His immune system has gone back to infancy after his encounters with lightning.

Blogtoberfest # ????

I have fallen off of the Blogtoberfest Wagon.

Life just gets in the way sometimes.

Day #21: My Creative Space

My Creative Space has too many things in it this week.

I really need to get some things finished instead of starting another project.

I have cut out the material to sew up Amelia and I a pair of PJ's (yes matchy matchy)

Still knitting

and dreaming of casting on with this

...and then there is the material sitting looking at me longing to be turned into a pair of shorts for me.

I am off to see who else is busy creativing this week. Pop in and join the fun at Kootoyoo

Day #20: Fun

Fun with a box and a few paints.

The last of the packing boxes have been unpacked (yes it has taken me almost a year!)

With impending rain clouds and showers not too far away the kids ran outside to decorate the box.

I think the fun part was painting your fingers.
...and then there was the washing of the hands!
Watch this box.  I am looking forward to what it becomes in the imagination of the two of them in the coming days.

Day 19: Jacaranda Tree

I was feeling a little low about not having my Wagga Spring that I loved do much.  It was the first real time that I have really appreciated and had time to soak up Spring.
Driving around I have noticed alot of trees that lay bare over the cooler months starting to get the most georgous purple flowers on them.  Every park around here seems to have at least one and many are seen on the skyline on the drive around town.

I think that I have found a new love.  Shame that they are now being replaced by the green leaves - but I guess that it will bring the much needed shade for the Summer months.

Inspiration found.  We will have to take a trip in and see New Farm Park in all of it's glory. Apparently the streets are lined with the trees and you walk on a carpet of purple flowers.

Until then.  I am going to join in the fun of Creative Collective Spring Craft.
The weather man seems to have the weather wrong for today.  The sun is shining and the sky is blue.  We are off to play.

Day 18: At our House

We are going to leave the housework behind and go to the park.

The weather man has said that the rest of the week will bring showers, rain and building up to a storm on Sunday.

Humm, So much for Queensland being where Australia Shines...

Yesterday, the wind calmed down and we went for a little drive.

We explored a little section of Mt Coot-tha and will have to head back up there soon.

Where else should we be exploring?  If you are in Brisbane we would love to know where to go* and what to see.  We have taken a while to feel settled in this town and I think that if I just give it a chance I might actually fall in love with this city - this little spot is seriously a stones throw from our place - how could we have been here for almost a year and only just find it now.

What are you up to today. Go and check out Lou's for what others are doing.

For the rest of the week we will be inside playing games and creating things I think.  If you have some great inside activities or craft ideas or you have a blog post you would like to share please let me know.  I will do a big post on Friday of Children's Wet Day Activities. I think that it may be a wet Summer here where "Australia Shines'

* shopping tips and places are also welcome:)

Day 17: Mary MacKillip

Mary MacKillip was officially canonised last night as Australia's first Saint - Mary Saint of the Cross.

A prosses which began at her death bed 100 years ago.  The Cathloic Church last night recognised her as a Saint for her works and miracles.

If you believe in miracles or not - Tonight was a special night for all Australians.

Day 16: Blow Wind, Blow...

*What do I see?
"A pig in a petticoat
A turkey in a nightcap
A chicken in a muffler
A jersy cow with ten horns
A rabbit with the measles.

I don't believe it,
I dont BELIEVE it."

It has been a little bit like that around here today.  The wind picked up last night and was recorded at reaching 92km/h.  We are still experiencing 40 - 50km/h winds.

Lucky for the neighbourhood I did not have washing on the line - it could have been a little bit embarrasing.

What are you up to this Sunny, Windy Weekend?  Or is it Raining, Flooding or Snowing in your neck of the woods?
We have been in the garden collecting, cutting down and pruning trees, our neighbours lost three trees last night, one of which landed on our driveway and we have a ute full of trunks and leaves to take to the tip tomorrow.

Hoping that I can sit and knit a little tonight.  I am finally having a win with these cables and if I do say so myself they are looking great.

* Lines from the book 'Mrs Mopple's Washing Line' a favourite in our house.
