Seasons Come...

and unfortunatly GO!

Growing up in North Queensland I was an adult and Married before I experienced the changing of the seasons. This is one of the things that I will miss when we leave these parts at the end of the year.

Since this will be our last Autum (for who knows how long) We took the opportunity to go to the park for a picnic and of course a mother has to take her camera.

Looking forward to what winter brings!

Coffee Keeper

I never seem to get to my coffee while it is still hot.

So after another morning of making sure the kids had there breakfast. Going outside to take photos of the fog and attempting to explain to Amelia that fog is like clouds in the sky that had come down too far! She now thinking that we were looking for Frogs flying in the sky...

I descided that I really do enjoy a HOT coffee in winter (those that know me will know that I do not mind letting my coffee sit during the summer months and resembling something that is more like an iced coffee, But this being our last winter I have come to the conclusion that I would at least like a warm coffee, most mornings.

I started to follow a pattern already on Rav - but it was going to be big enough to fit a giants mug. I then made this up as I went along. I will make another and write down the pattern if anyone is interested.

Have you ever had one of those weeks?

The ones that if your head was not attatched to your neck it would be out wondering???

Well I am having a month of them...

Here is what I have done the past month - I kid you not

1. Booked a flight to Brisbane for Mr Kylie P and Mrs Kylie P - what was I thinking. Most possibly booked the ticket with two toddlers on my lap helping me LOL. Stood at the airport and they were not going to allow Tim on the plane - so was looking like my weekend away was going to be a failure from the start. Did not take much to tear up and get the lovely Virgin Blue lady to change the name.

2. Send a parcel to myself - Yes I know that it is always lovely to get mail in the post - but from yourself - in my defence I had to send a return envelope in the parcel - I just had them around the wrong way - humm

And because I post is not a post without a photo or two - these are some recent parcels that have arrived for me (and not from me)

I won the 50 post on Bec's blog - she hand delivered it to me on a trip here recently.

And a fat quarter swap on Crafty Mumma's recently - two pieces fo knit material - to make Baden a shirt or two. And a cute little matching button.

Thanks girls for spoiling me and making my month a little more bearable!

New Supplies

On our trip to Brisbane I descided that I would go and find Tangled YARNS.

Armed with a little map of Brisbane we caught a train from the city and then walked from the train station. It must have looked a sight to see two people walking through the Valley rolling a bag behind them - But this girl was on a mission and lucky I have a loving husband who dragged the bag!

I walked through the door and knew that I was in yarn lovers heaven. I had already checked out the web site and knew that I wanted to add to my needle collection and could have walked out of there with lots of fluffy balls - but I didn't. To tell you the truth I was a little bowled over by the range LOL

Anyway - this is what I came home with.

A set of KnitPick Sock DPN's and two circulars to make knitting longies and soakers easier.

And this little wonder. It is a Knit Kit and Oh my - I will never again ask for a pair of sissors or tape measure at a knit night again (and if I do, well I give you permission to hit me, but not too hard)This little shop has only been open for 10 weeks - what a fab job you have done Kelly.

If you live or are planning a visit to Brisbane make sure that you go and find Tangled YARNS. It is the most lovely shop. There is a lovely coffee shop and childrens toy and clothes store only a few minutes walk away as well.

If I did not have to rush off and catch a plane in two hours I would have pulled out my knitting and joined the knitting mumma's that were knitting around there babes. It was lovely and inspiring to see. Now to sit and dream that we get a posting to Brisbane and maybe even Kelly will be looking at employing some new gals for the store (I did say dream didn't I?)

A Week of Celebrations

What a shame that Celebrations have to come to an end!

Oh well - means that we can have more doesn't it.

May has been a month of Celebrations. I had a birthday (not a significant one) But I did recieve a signficant present - more on that later - it deserves a post of its own.

We travelled over to Tim's family and celebrated the 90th Birthday of his Pa.

This is the best shot of a family photo that we managed and of me wearing the dress that I made for the occassion. Amelia is also wearing a new dress that I made on the same day. Not overly happy with it - but cute all the same. (and I just noticed that Amelia has her hands in the front pockets)

Then we travelled up to Brisbane for the wedding of my cousin. A beautiful wedding of a loving couple.

And a photo of us - we look a little tired dont we lol - We had been up since 5am that morning and drove to Melbourne before flying up to Brisbane.

A Dress for Me

While I should have been cleaning out the car and packing a bag to go away, this is what was I doing.


Making a dress. Yes leaving everything to the last minute again.

It really is Fast and Easy and completed in a couple of hours. It took me about an hour to trace and cut out the pattern and another to stitch it up. It really is just a sack sewn up, but it amazing how a pair of stockings and a pair of boots can turn a sack into something wearable.

And my little grr for the day. Look at the thread - what a mess and to think that I spent good money on Gutermann thread - this has never happened to the cheap spotlight brand, and here I was thinking that I had done the right thing and bought the expensive thread to make myself something in a stretch knit fabric.

Best keep moving - Quiches are in the oven (attempting to be good and not buy anything on the way down and instead of buying snacky food and drinks for us and the kids) and still have a guest book to make for the wedding next weekend.

My Creative Space and All About ME...

I have visitors in my creative space at the moment. Down where the sewing machine foot should be. Best move them on so I can get sewing. If you would like to see other creative spaces (more exciting than mine!) be sure to pop over to Kootoyoo

I have been knitting up a wee bit of a storm of late haven't I. So I have descided that May is going to be MY MONTH!

Sewing and Knitting for me - lets see how many things (if any) I get completed and how many things for others I end up doing.

I have started a jumper for me with a lovely 8 cable up the sides in the front and back. I actually bought the yarn for this in 2007 and started a project for me and then read the instructions and I was going to be a ball or two short. So I frogged it and have now after all this time descided that I should make something with it.

I also have visions of casting on a pair of socks, a vest, a scarf and maybe even a pair of gloves. Would also love to get Lady Feb Sweater on the needles as well - but we will see.

And also a dress - that I have the fabirc washed and ready for me to cut up and start.

And why is it my month - well it is my birthday and mothers day (of which I have to share them this year) Feeling a little jipped about that, But I am sure that I will get over it, expecially if I get my 1pm sleep in as requested (think I have bucklies and none of getting this as we are heading over to the inlaws for the weekend)

I Love Berries

I have finally stitched it all together. We went into town to get some buttons yesterday and I finished it last night.

Amelia's little face this morning was priceless when she saw it on the end of her bed all finished and ready for her to put on and wear to Preschool today.

Now I am a little sad that it has taken me so long to get this finished for her. It rides up a little at the front. If it drives me nuts I will frog the band and redo it. But at the moment it is finished and wearable.

Amelia got to choose the pattern. Apparently the stich looked like little berries - who was I to argue. I think that I am going to have my work cut out for me in future years as I think that this girl may have style.

Project notes: Found the yarn splitty and bouncy, If I make this again it will not be with a crepe wool - still have 6 balls to use up - not sure what it will become - maybe socks!

Festival of the Fallen Leaves

We packed the kids into the car and headed up into the hills for the Festival of the Fallen leaves yesterday. A once a year event in Tumut.

There were not as many leaves on the ground - due to global warming they are still hanging in the tree. But the colours were amazing.

The street parade was great. For a small town of 6000, there was a great represention of business and schools from the district. It was great to see.

And a market at the end of the street with its very own animal petting zoo.

And a few more leaves for good measure...

Cinderalla's Slipper's

Trying to find a slipper that fits Amelia's foot.

I think that socks would be easier! But I had fun trying so that is the main thing.

And the recipent is in LOVE with them.

Just look at the little photo shot - the postions were all her idea, my little foot model...

Take one and two - look at the size difference between the toddler and the child - I will do a little twicking of the pattern and see what I can work out now that I now where the heel starts etc. Or maybe just knit a pair in wool that is feltable.
