Le' Slouch

Well I am in the knitting mood at the moment! I bought some wool the other day and wanted to knit myself a jumper. Did the tension square (which I never do!) and everything was going well until I measured it and it was about 10cm too short! Instead of being an adult size it was turning out more like a size 5 girls! So in my hast I unravelled it and descided that I would turn it into a beanie for me!

So here you have it Le' Slouch Hat - which can be found over at Knit and Tonic. Next time I do it I will add more slouch - I knitted it as per the standard size but I think that I would like a little more pouf IYKWIM. I am enjoying knitting in the round at the moment and love the affect that you get with verigated wool (it just sort of looks right!)
Sorry about the scary eyes and please ignore the singlet (a little ironic really when you think that this time next week I will be back into jeans and long sleeved tops!) and the dirty mirror!

Holiday Update

As most of you know Amelia and I are on holidays in sunny Queensland!

Amelia has been getting lots of cuddles from her Grandma and Grandpa and two sets of Great Grandparents (How lucky is she!)

I have also had the chance to do a little sewing and some knitting.

The reason for our visit was the celebrate the up and coming wedding of my cousin and his wife to be. It was a lovely night and the first time in 18 years that all of us cousins have been together! For the occasion I did a little sewing.

An outfit for Amelia. Made from a thrifted 1974 Simplicity pattern that I had to do a little moderfications to (the front of the top was not included so I had to draft my own!) Ingrid, notice the fabric of the top - it was the piece that you have me in our christmas swap.And a picture of the two of us

New PJ's for Amelia

I have been bitten again with the sewing bug!

Amelia is in need of some new pj's, she seems to be having a growth spurt at the moment and is growing out of all of her clothes.

Notice the material- it is the same as my thrifted 'lounge pants'. When I asked Tim what he thought he said "As long as I don't get a pair everything will be ok!" I wonder if I can cut a pair out - just to scare him, LOL. He did say that they fitted well!Also on the sewing table at the moment is an outfit to wear on the weekend to my Cousins Aussie wedding get together! Yeah I am so excited. Amelia and I fly up to Queensland for a fortnight. Lots of cuddles for Amelia and some family time for me!

I just thought that I would share a gorgeous picture of my little bunny! How cute does she look. This photo was actually taken today as Amelia was not in the mood to be an Easter Bunny on Easter Sunday (vaccine reaction and teething) So Eme and her had fun in the yard today. I am loving that it is cool enough to be able to dress her in snuggly things.

Apparently it was all the rag in the 70's and I want to do it in 2007 - I think I have a 70's revival comming back (poor Amelia)

Happy Easter Everyone - I hope that the Easter bunny found you all!

I hope that everyone had a great Easter. Well ours was full of events and memories. Amelia ended up having a reaction to the Chicken Pox vaccine and came out in almost 100 spots! Humm - I thought the whole idea of having the needle was so they did not get spots. They did not last as long and did not go scabby like they would have had she had them properly - but still it gave us a scare and made for a little unhappy girl for a few days.

I will come back and blog what I have been up to. I have been knitting up a storm! Have finished Amelia's blue jumper (just have to embroider the cherries onto the back and find some cool cherry buttons!)

Joined the craze of knitting nappy cover and started on a pair of socks - except they will be Amelia's as there is something not right about the size! humm

Here is a little something to make you all giggle! I have to get my machine fixed so it is fitting at the moment!

But I just had to share this with you all.

Look Who is Knitting!I left my knitting on the couch and came out to find Amelia helping me. She must really want to wear this jumper! To my surprise she did not even loose a stitch!

How old are kids when they really start to knit. I know that the lovely Brooke is knitting at 6 and I was really excited about that. As the co-ordination is a learned skill. I am sure that I will find out - will be back in 5+ years to tell you if the wee one is actually knitting.

Ok, off to get knitting and finish it for her.

Lounge Pants

I have pulled out the sewing machine and now remember why I haven't been doing any sewing! My machines need a service and big time. My Overlocker's tension is all wrong - I currently have all dials set on 9 (when they are usually on 3-5!)
And my Sewing Machine is not doing button holes - What is going on!

Anyway - I saw a pair of lounge pants on Amy Butlers site and went looking for the pattern. Well to buy the book here in Australia is $45 + postage. So I adapted a pattern that I already had. I am not happy witht he ribbon - but it is all that I had in the cupboard so it will do for the time being! The material is a Sheridan Cotton sheet that I found in an op shop hunt.

Hot Chocolate, Knitting and Chocolates! What more could a girl want?

Well Tim descided that he was going to go camping and 4x4 driving for the weekend. The sleeping under the stars kind of camping (which is just not my style! - give me a tent and a....)

So I have had a crafty weekend. I am getting there on the blue jumper - it is getting exciting now cause I am almost up to the sleeves and the sleeves have colour and I am a little bored with the blue!

I also knitted up a dishcloth - I was unable to get what I wanted - the ladies in the shop looked as me like I had two heads when I asked for dishcloth cotton! Well I have read it in all of the books - granted that they are American and English books but still, So if any of my lovely blog followers know where I can get this stuff called "Dishcloth Cotton" please let me know. I ended up finding some Patons cotton and just did it in that.

I finished a bunny for the Crafty Mamas Easter swap (you will have to wait for pics as my swap partner knows who she is!) And did some sewing for my Kitchen Swap over at EB
