New Year - New Me...

With the new year and the beginning of another Decade I am going to attempt to be organised.

Now no promises - But everyone has to start somewhere.

I will yet again attempt to do a list month by month.  But have also written up a specific knitting intention list which can be found over and the KandK Blog.

This year I am also going to attempt to be oganised at home - after 7 years of marriage and 4 being a stay-a-home Mum, I think that it is about time I start getting the whole housewife thing sorted.   I have a few aids to help me with this; the Mum's Plan it Diary and a Kikki-K Family Planner Calander at the ready.

I will also attempt to keep on track with the Domestic Guru and have that clean house - I might also inlist the help of happy points.  The idea of knitter Elizabeth Cobbe and can be read in the Interweave Knits Weekend 2009.  It is basically where you give yourself a marble (which = $1) everytime you do your morning house work etc before picking up the needles.  There will be more thought on these Happy Points, so stay tuned.

I would also like to furture my career and am going to look into further study so I am ready to hit the workforce when Baden starts school.

Christmas Crafty Goodies

Look what I recieved this year.

A skein of hand dyed yarn (from my parents)

The coolest Mug (from a dear friend on a recent stop off in Brisbane)

And a few other bits that I have not taken a picture of, including a set of scales.  My SS thinks that they are for cooking - well they are - but they will also come in handy when I need to weight a finished knitted item.

A Christmas Swap

I was lucky to have the talented Bec as my swap partner.  She sent me a pinecone - made out of the pages of a vintage book - it is just so cute and will be treasured on our tree for many years to come.

(it is not the best picture - this house is very dark and casts some odd shadows)

I forgot to take a picture of the decoration I sent, along with a knitted star and a hand puppet for her little boy.  Go and check out the cute picture she has taken of the Wired Santa I sent her.

Thanks so much Bec  - it was fun.

Merry Christmas

Wishing you and your families a very Merry Christmas from ours to yours.

We are having a nice day, Church followed by morning tea with friends, home for a kip and then off to lunch:)

I will leave you with a picture of the kids in there Christmas outfits.  This is the only handmade crafting I managed to get done prior to Christmas. It was a relief to descide not to break myself with  handmade this year - there is of course next year and I will be making a start on that in the new year.

So this is Christmas...

And what have you done?  Another year over

Where oh were has the year gone.

December already - If you are like me you are wondering where the past year has gone?

So this is Christmas and what have you done?  Me diddly squat.

I had massive plans to make gifts this year and am here to hang my head low.  I have made next to nothing.  Although I still have 23 days left.

Lets see how much I get done...

Will return - I still have massive plans of making 4 dress's, shorts, and a few hats and finishing a shawl for Mum and making a few stars for the tree.  Stay tuned.

Long Time, No Post

We are alive, safe and well.  This move has been an eye opener to say the least.  It is at the top of the list for worst moves.  Well I lie, the move went well - it is just everything that went after it is like living a bit of a nightmare.

Ok - so no power for 5 days - yes you read right - 5 days without power.  That means, NO fridge, TV, computer etc etc etc.
Then the TV doesn't work - ok so a week and a half later we have that sorted.

And now - I can not get a phone line or internet into the property - seriously starting to think that this house has been struck by lightning or something.

Anyway - have unpacked and squished into the house with a garage full of over fill.  And have run away.  Run away to spend some pre Christmas time with my family and to meet my new little niece who is not so little anymore:)

I have managed to do a little crafting while up with my parents.  I finally finished the Spring Garden Tee.  It is oh so cute and I am wondering if I could upsize it to fit me?  I also managed to whip up a little skirt for her yesterday with some material that my grandmother gave me to make something for Amelia out of.

Blogtoberfest #26 - The Garden

As the house is getting packed up around me I am doing the final things to the house and garden.

To tell you the truth I feel a little like a murder - a vegetable one.  We had been asked to take out the vegetables in the garden.  On so many levels this feels wrong - in a few weeks another family would have been able to enjoy a crop of Carrots - but no - they are all pulled up and what remains now is nothing but dirt.

Anyway - the vegetable patch was a good investment (we can not take it with us as the removalist will not take building materials with them:(  We did have a few good crops out of it and the kids enjoyed being able to walk outside, give them a water and pick the vegetables for dinner.

I will leave you with a few pics of the last of the radishes.  These were great.  They tasted so good and were the biggest I have ever seen.

I am hoping to get back into blogging about the garden (Belinda's Place Meme)and what we are doing for the community when we get a little settled.  I have missed it.

Harvesting:  Radishes

Maintenance: Mowing and watering lawns
                     Cleaning House
                     Removing Vegetables from Vege Patch

Planning for The Future:  Starting to think about what we would like to grow

Working for the Future:  Booked A into the local Kindergarten
Thinking about Christmas Gifts and what I can knit on the trip to QLD

Building Community - Saying farewell to old friends
Looking on the internet for our new library, knitting groups, playgroup

Learn a new Skill - A little bit of patience - moving with two toddlers is interesting to say the least.

Blogtoberfest #25 - Working things out...

Amelia has been more aware this move of what is going on and has been a little concerned of what would stay behind and what would go to the new house.

Tim sat down with her and showed her a plan of the new house and they went through it together and worked out where all of the things would go and most importantly were her bedroom would be.

Google Maps have also been great as I can show her where the house is and where the closest park is.  She can see the front of the house and be like an eagle and fly around the area.  Sometimes I think that I have told her too much - but I think that it is very important and she one of those kids that likes to know as much as she can.

Karma Swap...

My parcel has been recieved by Jennifer (Pinry) . I think it took a tour of Australia before getting to Melbourne - I wonder about our postal system some days.

Anyway - here is a quick shot of what I sent.  It was a little hard to stop myself sending her some of the vintage buttons in my stash - you see she doesn't do buttons - so I could not resist and send her some zips instead.

Everything had to come from the opshop. I did have plans on turning the pillow cases into something for her twins - but that did not happen - I have not touched the sewing machine in months and hope to change that once settled in QLD.

Blogtoberfest #22 - Daydreaming

instead of packing...

I am daydreaming...

Dreaming about our new home, the next two years and where I am going to put everything. (sight unseen mind you)

I am thinking of setting up the study/sewing room in the same area as the kids playroom this time around.  In the small hope that they might let me sew if they are happy playing in the same room (I can only dream)

Here are some ideas I have found

A shared space over at Artsycraftybabe

I also like this space over at Blue Bird Makes her Nest

Blogtoberfest #21 - Washcloth Swap #2

My lovely partner Anita has recieved her washcloth.

I am so glad that you liked it Anita - it is a lovely pattern.  I love washcloths for that reason - you get to practice some lovely little stitches without doing something full sized.

Many thanks must also go to Jodie over at Jelly Wears for organising the swap.  Jodie is thinking of doing a Christmas Swap - what fun, so keep an eye out for it.  Now to stalk the postman for my little parcel.

Blogtoberfest #20 - It's Tuesday...

and I can't wait to find some time to sit with Amelia and show her how to use this.

During a rescent opshop visit - Amelia found this - How could I say no

I am going to pack it in the car with the thought of sitting in the back with her and doing it while travelling up to Queensland.  How do you think that she will go.  Is four a good age to start something like this?  I have started it off so that there is already something coming out of the bottom - I thought that this was a good idea as she would not be waiting for 20+ rounds before she got a result.

Blogtoberfest #15

Today's Creative Space comes to you from the loungeroom.

It is horrid weather here today * perfect for ducks, but not for little people. We sat and watched ABC Kids this afternoon and I managed to get a little knitting done.

Look at my new stitch markers! Kelly gifted them to me for helping her to sew the lining into a bag that she crocheted. They are so cute. She is thinking of setting up an Etsy store - so if that happens I will be sure to let you know. And the earrings and another set of stitch markers came to live at my place too. Thank you so much Kelly and I will remeber you everytime I use them.

*And as I sit and type this up it is hailing outside - this is a very odd October! If the ducks have any sense they will have run for cover as well.

For more Creative Spaces be sure to pop over to Kootoyoo

Blogtoberfest #14 - Opshop Swap

I recently signed up for an Opshop Karma Swap over on the Bendigo Woollen Mills Thread on Ravelry.

I recieved my parcel from Jaffa7. And just look what was inside.

  • A ball of Luxury in Autumn Glow
  • A ball of Luxury hand dyed by WoollyButts
  • Another ball of dyed yarn - I think that it might be cotton
  • The cutest wooden toggle buttons
  • And a set of purple needles - just the right size for when I am game enough to start Miss A on the needles
  • It all came in a pink bag that I have lost to the little miss of the house

Thankyou so much Jaffa7. Thanks must also go to MamaSue for organising the swap - it was so much fun.

It's Tuesday and I Can't wait...

Photo taken from mixtapezine blog
... to have a look through this new magazine and make something out of it. I was one of the lucky winners that won a copy over at mixtapezine blog It is full of recipes from yesteryear from some of the sellers at Madeit. Unfortunaly this will have to wait for a few weeks as we are in the process of eating down our fridge, freezer and pantry. A little sad really as I love to have a stockpile of things. Unless it is in a sealed Tupperwear type container or the manufacture's seal has not been broken it will have to passed onto friends.

For more of what people can't wait for today be sure to pop over and visit Lou

Blogtoberfest #12 - Postcards of Wagga

How hard is this daily blogging getting? Anyone else finding it difficult?
On the weekend we went out to Kap**ka for the Open Day. The highlights this year were the A**y Skydiving team and of course the Kapooka A**y Band. They preformed a wonderful concert (as always) and ended it with a musical performance of Tchaikovsky's '1812 Overture' with fireworks and cannon spectacular. I will miss being posted to an area that has a fulltime A**y Band.

I missed pictures of the fireworks. Baden was asleep on my lap - how he slept through it is beyound me and everyone around us.

Blogtoberfest #9 - In...In...In...

And I was doing so well.

This year I have made an effort to knit from the stash - and I was doing so well until we drove through Bendigo on Monday on the way home and somehow the car drove itself to Bendigo Woollen Mill (with Tim's help)

In my defence, most of it is ear marked with projects to get on the needles in the next month (and I do have a very long drive up to QLD at the end of the month that will require a project or two)

Bendigo Luxury in 4ply - ear marked for a Bloom, a newborn jacket and something for my Mum

And these were sitting there calling out to me - I just had to grab them - Bendi sock wool $4 for 50g. And you can never have too much sock yarn - these will become socks for the boys in my life.

Best keep moving for the day. Have a little man that is being like a worm on my lap - he can not sit still today, and doesn't want me to sit here.

Blogtoberfest #8 - A home...

We have a house.

Yay - and it is bigger than a mouse house

Can you tell that I am doing a happy dance today. But my word. How hard is it to get through to people that yes it is only a house. A house that we will live in for the next two years. And that house becomes our home. In the last day I have had the removalists comment on how much 'stuff' and furniture we have. I don't think that we have any more than other people. Ok, with the sporting husband that I have maybe the two kayaks and large canoe, cricket, hockey, climbing and diving gear may be alot of stuff (lets not mention the tools). Then add in the yarn and fabric stash that I have and yes - I guess that we might have alot of 'stuff', but is it their place to comment on our hobbies and enjoyment!

Anyway - house found and plans back to Plan A. Back to packing this home into boxes.

Blogtoberfest #7 - Finished Knits

It is amazing how much one can knit in a car when they are a passanger.

Approx 14 hours in the car back and forwards to the inlaws (and a little extra at the destination) helped to produce three items and three ticks off my long list. (I still have one to photograph - but here is a taste of what had the needles click clacking)

A QLD Milo for Thomas' second birthday. It is so cute and I am glad that there is enough of this maroon in the stash for Baden for one next year. I did a different cable than what is given with the pattern, I was attempting to achieve something that looked like a Q - what do you think?
In Full Bloom, the second test knit for TiKKi. This one is for Amelia and she is so in love with it.

I entered these in the little country show at my IL's and recieved first place for the Bloom and second for the Milo (well done Georgie on such great patterns)

It's Tuesday and I Can't wait...

to be free of this headache.
It is like a tension headache - like the ones that you get when you stress too much - stress me - never. Well, ok - yes that is what has been happening. A little stressed about this move and the housing that they are offering us at the moment is small - I mean mouse sized.

Knitting pics tomorrow (I have to spread out what a share because 30 days is going to take a long time if I have nothing to tell or share)

Heading Back

The Local Show

We took the kids to the little local show.

Fun was had for the kids with clowns, train rides, face painting and animals.
