Secret Santas

Well I have been a little quite ont he crafty front at the moment - with packing boxes, christmas and being in limbo...

I have however recieved some lovely Secret Santa's

Ingrid sent me a georgous little package, all wrapped up in a piece of material. It included some ricrac, three vintage patterns, some new and old buttons, two pieces of material and some yoyo circles. Ingrid you are a gem and I love them so very much.

I also recieved a beaded wire head band from another SS. (Picture to come)

I sent off tow SS's - The mystery one was sent to Marie and was a hand knitted beaded purse. I think that she likes it.

Marie and Ingrid - I hope that you didn't mind - but I have just coppied the pics that you have taken as I haven't got around to doing it yet.

A gift for May

Little May was born on Monday 4th December!

In true Kylie style I wanted to make her something special and I went a little over board!
I hope that her Mum and Dad like them.

To keep with the Australian theme I used Australian Prints to make up the ball!
And the little outfits are made using some of the fat quarter that I had in my pile that I have had for years (yeah - I finally used it!)
When we had Amelia, friends gave us an outfit in each size from 0000 to 0. So I have done the same. So she has something special from us to wear in each of the baby sizes. The white romper has a ruffle on the bottom - oh so sweet.
I cant wait to see pic of her in them - but I will have to be patient, cause she is only a wee one.

Congratulations guys - We can't wait to meet your little Gum Nut

Yeah My First Market!
I attended my first market over the weekend - it ran over two days and I am so glad that it was in the air-con as it was so hot outside.

I sold most of my stuff - which was great. The skirtinglet (the singlet dresses) were a hit and so was the reindeer food (Who should have known) Many thanks goes to my sales girls - you know how you are! If it wasn't for them I would have come home with heaps - apparently Reindeer food is guaranteed to bring Santa this year - even if you haven't been good.

I am going to get in the swing of things next year and plan to do an Easter Market (just have to find the markets in country Victoria)

A Baby Shower Gift for Wendy

Well, One of our dear friends is almost due to have a little one and a shower was held on the weekend to celebrate!

Wendy and Occa decided that they wanted to decorate the room in an Australian Theme! Well has anyone ever tried to find baby things in this theme? I searched and searched and then decided to make something myself.

The finished product is an Australian Animal Mobile. Little stuffed animals made out of felt and hand blanket stitched together. I was rather proud of the finished project and hope that Wendy's baby gets many hours of joy out of it.

A Spotty Little Dress

I am so excited! I actually did some sewing yesterday that was for Amelia. I have been focusing all of my thoughts into doing crafty things for the Christmas Markets and think that I have descided that I am not cut out for mass production - I just get too bored too quickly.

So this little dress is made from the McCalls 1983 pattern that I picked up from the op shop a few weeks ago.
It turned out! Considering that it didn't come with instructions.

Next time I will make it a little longer and I think it will sit better when she is up and walking and not constintly pulling the front of it down when she crawls.
I also made a little pair of matching pants to wear under it (have got a real dislike to seeing nappies on babies) and the cute little head srunchie(is that what I would call it?)

I just love Amelia in it, she looks good in lots of colours - think it is due to her hair colour and her olive complection.
Christmas Singlet Dress

A Christmas version of the bonds singlet dress.
Very cute.
Getting Amelia to look at the camera at the moment is a challenge - I am sure that she knows when I get the camera out that I want to take a picture! Hummm

I also made a matching hair clip - it is just a yoyo with a button in the middle!

WIP - Sorry house work - you are not invited to this party!

Well - I have descided that Friday's are going to be Work In Progress Day's. Starting Today.
This means that I have to pull out something that I have started (so yes one of those many UFO's) and complete it or at least do something on it. And as you could imagine I have got so many things that I have STARTED and then just put aside that it really isn't funny. In all seriousness I could possibly not walk into a craft/fabric shop for a whole year and still have something in my house to work on - Humm now that is a bit naughty isn't it. Lucky for Tim we are moving to the middle of no where next year and Spotlight is over an hour away in all directions. Oh but then ther is 'Attic Crafts' in Bendigo and I love 'Attic Crafts'

So this is what I did today. I finished off some Singlet Dresses, Completed 20 Santa Hand Puppets, Stuck eyes on 30 Peg Reindeer and pulled out the knitting that I started the other night.

Well that was a successful day! Wonder what I can achieve next Friday - stay tuned!
Bonds Singlet Dress!

I made Amelia her very own Bonds Singlet Dress. I actually made them for all of her little friends who have recently turned One! But, in true Darwin fashion I was only able to get a few singlets and therefore Amelia had to wait.

I can't wait until she is walking! Dresses look so much more cuter on little girls who are walking and I have so many things that I want to make her - but at the moment, they just end up with dirty knee areas.

Christmas Craft Things

Well this is what I have been busy doing!

Getting ready in prep for the Christmas Market up here. I was so disappointed last year when I attended as a buyer and there was nothing really christmassie!

Cork Reindeer
Paddle Pop Christmas Trees
Alphabet Cube Christmas Man
Reindeer Candy Canes

SPOTLIGHT SALE

Well here is a pic of what I bought at the Spotlight sale. I went a little over board with the wool - but I am telling myself that we will need some knitted items for next year and when it was only 50cents a ball, well I couldn't really leave it there could I!

I also purchased some material - well 15 metres actually. I think that I can justify my spending by saying that next year I will have to drive over an hour away to go to a Spotlight or other craft store. And the wool will still be in my stach so I will have something to do.
My Op Shop finds!

Well what fun I had at the op shop the other day. Here is a few pics of my finds. By the looks of it none of the patterns have actually ever been used! I love the 1970's little dress.

The Sewing Machine is out of Retirement!...

Hi well I ahve been busy - not sewing but entertaining visitors. We have had both sets of Grandparents up for Amelia's first birthday. It was great to have them up - but needless to say I didn't get much sewing or crafting done!

As it is with your children's birthdays and MG's - all of the children you know have their birthdays at the same time. So for the girls I descided to make little dresses!
I turned a Bonds singlet into a dress and I want to make some more - But it is so hard to find the singlets up here (grrrr!)

I also made Amelia a pair of Ingrid's 'easy pants and added some stitching etc to a target top. She looks very cute in it - but of course wouldn't sit still long enough for me to take a pic. (so you all get to see a crawling baby instead!)

Cross Stitching

Some of my cross stitches that I have completed! I do alot of them as gifts and therefore that do not get to hang in my house (sigh!!!)

The first big one I ever did - it has been hanging around for years and when I fell pregnant I decided that I would do a Noah's Ark theme for our babies room, So that is it's happy home now. Amelia loves it and I am sure she will learn all of the animals one day.

A tiny little cross stitch - I almost went cross eyed doing this! It is only about 2inches x 2inches. I love it. One of the things that I don't enjoy doing is the backstitching, So this had very minimal to do (well the hardest thing was actually holding onto the aida - as it came precut in a kit.

A gift for my husband for his 30th Birthday. I was able to keep it a secret for ages - infact I was about 1 week off of finishing it when he came home unexpectadly early from work and it was on the bed. Oh well - it was still a surprise (sort of) He said that I did very well keeping it from him for that long and he was starting to wonder if he was going to get something...

Just thought that I would post my fabric purchases from Spotlight the other day. Now all I have to do is make something with them (lol)

Little Nappy Cover for Amelia - Just can't stand seeing baby girls nappies!

Dress for me - Wrap/with a long wrap around tie!

Another dress for me! Another wrap dress - but with 3/4 sleeves

This piece I picked up for $2 a metre so I got 3 (lol) Doesn't show up very well but it is a pick polycotton with little with flowers = thought maybe a dress for myself and something for Amelia - as long as we wear them on different days, I am sure it will be fine - Right??

Knitted Jumpers

Just thought I would show off some of my latest projects. The jumper for Isabella (that Amelia modeled for me) and a jumper for our friends little boy. Both from a new Patons pattern book that I bought. Next project is to get the sewing machine out and sew some clothes for myself and some much needed shorts for Amelia.
