This Moment {and then she was six}

This week, this moment is a little bit different. There is more than one photo and lots of words.  Sorry in advance Soulemama, but this is a special moment.

Our little girl turned 6 yesterday.  SIX.   A little note to my little girl - she started the whole 'Mealy and I' after all...
--------------------------------------------------------

Six whole years ago you made be a Mum and a stay-at-home one at that. Who would have known that the years would slip by so quickly.  I have enjoyed spending time with you, and later your brother.  From playgroups to plays in the park.  Sewing on my lap and cooking in the kitchen.  You are there for all of it and for every learning curve that has come along the way in my new role as your Mum.

You are growing into a beautiful little girl (I won't apologise for being bias)  Yes, there are times where I could pull out my hair and yell "why!!!"  Which Mum doesn't?

You enjoy spending time with your brother. The two of you are never too far apart and are always on the look out for each other.

You spend more time upside down then right way up these days.  You enjoy drawing and writing and have leaped in with both feet at school and love learning new things (it took me two days to convince you that you had two whole weeks of holidays and that no-one would be at school)

At the end of the year you will again pack up and move.  This time leaving behind lovely friends that you have made at Kindergarten and your first year of school.  I pray that we are able to keep in contact with them through writing and skyping  This will be your 5th move and although are moving back to somewhere we have lived before you don't recall our last posting there.

Happy Birthday Amelia.  We are looking forward to what the next 6 years will bring (an almost teenager - aghhhh) My degree and knowledge ends now (early childhood), I am in uncharted waters HELP!

My Creative Space {Finished}

The fluffiness that was last week is off the needles.  Wrapped, delivered and received at it's destination awaiting the arrival of the big day to be worn on the shoulders of the to be bride.

There has been alot of stressing over the last week (hence the lack of blogging).  Will I get it finished, will she like it, will it arrive in time and will it fit.  Knitting is stressful to start with when making gifts but this project took it to a whole new level.  There have also been alot of late nights and lots of swearing in the name of our future Queen.

It is adorable.  I think it will look fantastic on and from all weather reports it is meant to be a chilly one in our nations capitol this weekend. I am looking forward to seeing photos of it on.

I know you are all asking, Will I knit another?  Yes I will, I would love one for myself to wear to functions of which there will be a few next year when we move south.  Will I knit you one?  YES.  But at a price and not until next year.  I am now officially on holiday from anything fluffy and fuzzy.

Kate Middleton, you are stunning and I love your sense of style and elegance.  But your name is a swear word in this house at the moment.

All the details of the bolero can be found on Ravelry.And of course joining in over here.

My Creative Space {Knitting Dandelions}

I have been knitting this week.  It has been heads down and needles clicking knitting with something that resembles that of a Dandelion.

Fluffy and white and oh so fiddly.  One breathe of wind and it is gone {or in a knot}  Not something I can work on when my mind is not on the job or one I can take very far in fear of it getting dirty or worse, knotted up.

It is going to be divine when finished.  Just a shame it is not for me.

Thrifty Finds {Tea Cups}

A quick trip into my favourite little Op Shop had me skipping back to the car with a smile.

I found and swooped these up for $3.  A set of five little tea cups and little saucers.  Just what I needed for a little up and coming tea party, I have had a few ideas for a while now and they are all coming together. (I don't know who is more excited)

It has been so long since I have had a good op shop find (or bought anything home - trying to be good in the name of moving interstate you see)

I only have to find a few more and I will be all set. The plan is to let the girls drink out of them and then whip them through the wash and pop a few little treats in and cellophane them all up for the girls to take home. (instead of party bags)

All frocked up...

Our night out last weekend was fantastic.

The food was horrible, the entertainment was hohum and the dancing did not start until too late in the night (after 11pm)  We did however have a great time with friends and my date was rather handsome (if I do say so myself) and all for a good cause.  All the money raised goes towards LEGACY and what they do for those left behind.

Thanks Mum and Dad for flying in to have the kids and for snapping a few photos of us before we headed off.

A back view of my very special dress.  Thanks must go to my wonderful friend Angie who did my hair and makeup for the ball. My hair did not move all night (for fear of it blowing away - it was so windy here last week)  I felt like one of the girls from Underbelly Razor, although not as mean as Kate Leigh.

My Creative Space...

this week has been another of those mad weeks and I am starting to get the feeling that things are not going to slow down between now and packing everything in the truck in 12 weeks.

The aim this week is to blog between Thursdays.  There are 7 days in a week after all and I seem to be sharing alot of started things and not finishing anything at the moment.

So for good measure here is something that I have started today.  Birthday preparations for a little girls who will turn 6 in a few weeks - SIX - how on earth has that happened???

For creative spaces with finished somethings make certain you pop in to Our Creative Spaces.  I have to run, or I will be late for a very important date...

My Creative Space...

I'm BACK...

Have a few things on the go at the moment - needles and hooks are a clicking with a few deadlines thrown in.  More on those later.

For now you will have to just admire the next colour round of this.

Today though as been full of chasing my tail from one appointment to the next with the creativity coming from those that tan, dye and snip.  We are off to a grand ball on the weekend.  Am I excited?  Oh yes I am. For more creativity, pop over to the home of Thursday Creativity.

Coming up for air...

... still here.

Sorry for the break in transmission.  It has been crazy busy here and I mean crazy.

The school fair was on over the weekend.  Not much in the way of crafting of the yarn type has been occurring around here.  My hands have been a little too sticky.  But with a fab team of Mum's (grandma's and aunties too) we managed to pull together 1000 jars of jams, chutneys, relishes and preservatives.  What an effort.
Here are they all ready for sale.

My parents were down for the weekend and Grandpa managed to win the Auction for 4 tickets to the Rugby League on Sunday.  What a fathers day gift:)

Thanks Dad for taking us.  It was the first ever game of football I think I have sat through in my life (I was very tempted to pull out my knitting - but behaved myself)

We were in the crowd after the match.  The first time patrons have been able to go out onto the field after a Bronco's game. The kids took the opportunity for a quick tackle!

I am hoping that things will start to slow down soon before the moving side of it ramps up and I loose my breath again.  Hoping that things will slow down after next weekend and I can find sometime to pop around blogland and catchup on a few blogs.
