{My Creative Space} Owlette

Look at who came home with me after a weekend away.

This cute little owlette.  Designed by the lovely Claire and using a sock, a little felt and material and a stich here and a cross there, it came together before our very eyes. Thanks Claire for you expert advise and tips on all things socky.

I attended SIT with 40 other crafty types for the second time.  Last year I spent most of the time chatting and meeting and not alot of crafting occured.  I am glad that I managed to get something achieved this time.
I had a great time and meet lots of lovely blogging friends and a few new ones. Being in the national Capitol which was once home for us for a few years. I also managed to catch up with a few friends and also gave the girls a quick tour of Canberra on the way to the airport.
Make sure you grab a cuppa and pop over to Vintage Voices and check out what is happening in the crafty blogging world. You may even spot a few more owls.

Another Milo

27 Blue Elephant, dancing around a little Milo

Another little Milo is off the needles and awaiting the arrival of the next baby.
This one will be for my brothers little man (the first in our family to carry on my maiden name into the next generation, as you can imagine we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of this little man)

There will be a few more Milo's appearing over the next few weeks.  It appears to be breading season around here at the moment. For more creative posts, take a look over here.

{My Creative Space} Little Owls

With all of the new babies beginning to enter the world at the moment a quick little knit that I can get on and off of the needles in a few days is always welcomed.

The Milo Vest by the talented Tikki is celebrating its birthday and Tikki often holds a little celebration for this popular design. I have slipped in with not one but two Milo's in May (more on the other one later, they both deserve there own post)

I love this pattern for its ease (the needles almost knit it themselves) and for the many options and different things that you can do with this simple pattern.  I have often done a cable pattern down the side and from memory I think that I have done almost every cable.  So for this one I though that I would use my skills of Fair Isle and add a little owl.

This one has been sent and received by friends in Brisbane who welcomed their fourth little pink bundle into the world.

Looking forward to seeing Lily in this and getting a few photos.  I also knitted a pair of longies.  For more creative spaces head over here.

Itty Bitty Granny

An Itty Bitty Granny was turned into a little badge this week and sent on it's way as part of a swap for SIT that is coming up very very soon.

Crochet using a 1.25mm crochet hook and embroidery floss halved.  It is the smallest thing I have ever crochet and I can now see why these are so expensive.

I'm looking forward to going and meeting a few new crafty bloggers and catching up with some real life and blogging friends.

GAP - tastic

On and off the needles just in time for the chilly weather that has come to grace us.

A few chats on Twitter, pattern suggestions being thrown around and local friends who have been slightly bitten by the knitting bug (or is it the cold Victorian winter and frosty starts to the day and sleety morning walks to school, that this girl who has maroon blood running through her veins is not yet acclimatised too?) Saw me rummage through the stash and find some lemony mustard that I picked up from Spotlight last year on the clearance table.

Three days and lots of km's later (where I managed to score passenger seat and time to knit) saw this finished and wrapped around my neck.

Now I am ready for Canberra (Brrr -5 today) the snow and what winter here has in store for me.

Pattern:  Gap-tastic Cowl
Yarn: Debbie Stoller, Full o' Sheep

Would you like to join in with the cowl fun and be ready for winter?  Knit, Sew or Crochet a Cowl.  I'll work out how to make a linky thing (bear with me, I'm not good with this computer lingo)

A Red Scrappy Quilt

Grandma arrived with her arms full of quilts last weekend.

Look at what is now on our bed.

Mum is in the process of using up her scraps, kits and fabrics that she has.  All of the panels are made from scraps and the only new pieces in this are the binding, back and the red.

I'll be back later with two more quilts Mum has made.  Thanks Mum for all the hours that you have put into this and Dad for being a quilters widow.

The pattern comes from the book Scrappy Quilts

A golden find...

It has been months since I have had an op shop find.  This one however saw my heart skip a beat and me handing over the cash a quickly as I could.

A positive in the week of sickness that we have had here (Yes, the little man is still unwell) We have been back and forwards from Dr's and Hospitals , tests have been run, blood has been taken and we are now playing the waiting game.

We walked out of the Dr's surgery yesterday. We wandered across the road and into the opshop. I had a look around, let Baden chose a car to go with his growing collection and was about to walk out when I spotted it.

HORN...

A quick skip over, the nod from the lady to say that it was infact in working order. The exchange of cash and into the back of the car (lucky for me the man of the house insists I drive a Ute) and home we went.

Today I cleaned it up and placed the machines in their new home. The man of the house says that it is ugly and is researching paint.  I however am just thrilled to have somewhere to put my machines, a space to sew and a bargin to end all bargins.

Now to find the safe spot I placed my sewing scissors when I unpacked all those boxes. Hoping to have something of the sewn variety to show you in next weeks Creative Space.
